Prudential and JA Zambia successfully implements Cha-Ching financial literacy program for children in primary schools

Prudential Life Assurance Zambia and Junior Achievement Zambia have successfully implemented the Cha Ching Program in 5 Lusaka based Primary schools involving over 416 pupils. The program has been implemented following the launch of the partnership on 11th July, 2017. Prudential Life Assurance staff has been instrumental in conducting the Six (6) Cha Ching Program sessions in the selected primary schools.

Cha-Ching encompasses financial literacy curriculum for pupils in primary school aged seven to twelve. The program provides a strong focus on finance, mathematics, planning and analytical skills. Pupils are encouraged to use critical thinking to make decisions on how they manage their money applying the four concepts: 
Earn, Save, Spend and Donate 
in their daily lives which support positive attitudes as they explore and enhance their money-management skills.

The objectives of Cha-Ching are to:
- Provide engaging, academically enriching, and experiential learning sessions in economic education
- Help the students discover four concepts in using money: Earn, Save, Spend and Donate

In a statement in today recently, JA Zambia Executive Director, Mr. Teddy M Nyasulu said “JA Zambia is pleased to work with Prudential to transform the lives of these young people. We all know the financial literacy training plays a key role in ensuring that young people prepare for their life after school. With these skills these young people will be able to create financial capability for themselves and others and contribute to the economic activities of the country- Zambia,” said Mr. Nyasulu. 

Supporting the Statement Prudential Life Assurance manging Director Mr. Krishna Swamy said that he is pleased that Prudential has invested in the future of Zambia through the Cha Ching Program. “We all know that Zambia is implementing the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI 2017 to 2022) and financial education is a very strong component of it. At Prudential we believe in the potential of the future generation” Said Mr. Swamy
