STANBIC URGES BANKS TO HELP SMEs SECURE ALTERNATIVE ENERGY

STANBIC Bank Zambia says financial institutions have a role to play in helping households and Small Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) overcome the current power crisis by providing affordable financial support for the procurement of alternative energy sources.

Bank Head of Marketing Perry Siame said there is need for the public and corporate entities to supplement government’s efforts  by looking into alternative sources of power  to ease pressures on the national grid.

Same said ending the country’s power challenges requires concerted efforts from all sectors of the economy and cannot be left to government alone adding that this is where financial institutions have to come in and facilitate the transition.

Siame said in the same manner financial institutions help SMEs to expand their business, it should be the same way in which they offer solutions to business in accessing alternative energy sources.
