Speaking during a client’s cocktail on Friday Bank managing director Simangolwa Shakalima said the financial institution has integrated Zoona and ZAMTEL Money on their digital platform to enable customers transfer money form their bank accounts to their mobile platforms.

“We have invested in digital services, our customers are now able to pay statutory obligations such as National Pensions Scheme Authority and taxes to Zambia Revenue Authority from the comfort of their mobile phones,” he said.

Shakalima said talks are underway with Airtel and MTN to add the two mobile platforms on the bank’s digital platform.

He assured customers the bank’s commitment to improving performance with the recapitalization plans by major shareholder Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines-Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH).

“Once the bank is recapitalized, the bank will be re-engineered financially and focus on product innovation, leveraging technology and customer centricity. The bank is open to offering capital solutions in sectors such as mining, construction, agriculture, energy and others,” he said.

Meanwhile, ZCCM-IH acting chief executive officer Mabvuto Chipata said the bank is committed to recapitalizing the bank with the minimum regulatory capital.

He said the decision to integrate mobile platforms is aimed at improving the bank’s monetary levels and further increase their operational business capacity.

“We have also finalized a rationalization plan that will see the bank achieve better efficiencies,” Chipata said.
