GOVERNMENT will complete installing dialysis machines for kidney patients in all the hospitals by 2017, ministry of Health permanent secretary Davy Chikamata has said.

Dr Chikamata said the equipment will help Zambia provide quality health services to people suffering from kidney-related complications.

He said in Lusaka yesterday when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurances that Government is working round the clock to ensure all hospitals have dialysis machines because the number of patients with kidney-related complications is increasing.

Dr Chikamata said Government will also ensure all referral hospitals are modernised so that the country is in a position to handle various medical complications without having to refer them abroad.

He said Government has devised a three-pronged approach under the modernisation of health facilities plan which will see the improvement of medical infrastructure, installation of advanced medical equipment and the training of medical personnel to handle specialist cases.
